The people of Christ United Methodist Church and friends build House on the Corner as a ministry of support to our community. The house construction begins on our church site and then completed in the Douglass Community in Plano. Our mission project has the goal of enabling a low-to-moderate income family with children to achieve home ownership in the Douglas Community.

We encourage all families who dream of owning their first home to submit an application. We are currently searching for the recipient for House on the Corner 6.

FAMILY SELECTION CRITERIA

In order to submit an application to purchase The House on the Corner, a family must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Have one to three children 18 years or younger living at home
  • Family commitment to working on the construction of the home 75% of the scheduled work days. Construction will be on Saturdays beginning in June and ending in September
  • Parent(s) must be employed and have been employed continuously for a minimum of 1 year
  • Parent(s) pre-qualify for a loan and sign release for credit check and criminal background check
  • Be able to afford a monthly payment up to $500 for housing costs. Family income may not exceed the HUD 80% limit
  • Be first time home owner (not owned in last 3 years)
  • Parent live or work in Collin County, or neighboring counties, and be either a U.S. citizen or have permanent residence status
  • Commit to work closely with Christ United Methodist Church Family Liaison Committee

Affiliation with Christ United Methodist Church or the United Methodist Church is not required to apply.
